Your school has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Waterloo Region to participate in our In-School Mentor Program for the 2019/2020 school year!

The student will be withdrawn from class to work one on one with a Mentor for 1 hour per week for the duration of the school year. The program takes place during school hours within the school.

All Mentors in the program are screened and trained by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. Please note that our Mentors are not equipped to deal with students who have high needs or serious behavioural problems.

To register a student please complete the form below. To complete the registration process please send home the child application package to be completed, singed and returned by the Parent/Guardian. The completed child application package is to be returned to your school liaison.

  • As a reminder these forms are only needed for students who have not previously been referred to the In-School Mentoring Program during the last school year.
  • Please note that a match is not guaranteed as we are a volunteer based organization.

  • All children who participate in BBBSWR programs must have Pre-Match Training. This training has three primary purposes, to: prepare match participants for their role in a healthy, successful mentoring relationship; illuminate safety issues and strategies; and, emphasize that resources and ongoing support will be available to all match participants.
Information given will be held in strict confidence and will be used to effectively assess the student's need for the In-School Mentoring program. Please feel free to contact Big Brothers Big Sisters at 519-745-0180 ext. 208 if you have any further comments or questions.
